Record sales in the new economy? 

Amidst tariff and trade uncertainty, Rapid Axis experienced record growth in Q2 of 2025 as customers attempted to re-shore work from outside the United States. Rapid Axis President Jared Probst stated:
“We have had more inbound new-customer onboarding documents and RFQs since Liberation Day than in the entirety of 2024. While some of these new customers are clearly looking for overseas-level pricing, many recognize the value-add of working with a company like Rapid Axis and have already processed their first-time POs. Simultaneously we’ve seen a surge in ITAR designated defense work. A month over month increase of 50% just from that sector.”

How is Rapid Axis staying ahead of the rush?

One key component has been adding more shifts, along with a well-timed capital equipment expansion to boost capacity. In Q1 of this year, Rapid Axis added two more high-productivity mills: a large-format YCM 5-Axis and a large-format YCM 3-Axis. Additional capital expenditures are planned, including a bar-fed Mill + Turn center in the next two months and two more smaller 3-Axis mills.

Rapid Axis has also been expanding its domestic partner network for fabrication and finishing support. Hiring has played a role as well—in early August, Rapid Axis brought on a new Project Coordinator to help manage workloads, and a new Machinist will join in September.

Have there been any effects on pricing?

Yes. Rapid Axis has seen increases in raw material pricing for most metals, with wide variability depending on the alloy and form. As U.S. stocks are depleted, billet, plate, and round-bar prices are expected to rise further. Current increases range from 10–30%.

What do we think is next?
We don’t really know! Increased costs driven by tariffs are expected to slow consumption on a macroeconomic level. However, with so much work being re-shored, there is still a strong possibility that Rapid Axis will continue breaking revenue records month after month—necessitating continued expansion.
